The year of 1968 Einar Elíasson
constructor in Selfossi began producing
sewer pipes made of concrete. His company Steypuiðjan produced
concrede products until 1984. In 1977 Einar and some friends established
the company SET and began producing district heating pipes. Three years
later the first plastic extrusion line was bought to SET and casing
pipes were made in the company. With initiating that technology the
company was more competitive and a new period of growth began. The
production groups increased and indoor as well as outdoor position
was growing. New equipment and better facilitys have put SET Pipe
factory in the leading position in Iceland. The main production
groups that SET is producing is District heating pipes, Plastic water
pipes, Drain and sewer pipes and Cable conduit pipes. SET is
also importing and selling fittings and joints from recognized
and well known companies in Europe. Exporting to Europe has been
increasing in the last years and the production is fully competitive
with international production. The company has Quality control system
according to ISO 9001.

Íslandsbanki-FBA in 2001) was formed
in May 2000, when the shareholders of Íslandsbanki and FBA - The
Icelandic Investment Bank, approved a merger of the two banks. With
the merger the new bank assumed all operations, assets, liabilities,
and obligations of the two banks. This created the largest financial
group in Iceland and the largest company listed on the Iceland
Stock Exchange.
