The Small Medium Enterprise Cambodia (SME
Cambodia) is the first
Cambodian NGO focussed specifically on developing the human capital,
enterprise capacity and the institutions necessary to create a
competitive private sector in the new Cambodian market economy.
A lengthy period of political isolation is now over and Cambodia
is beginning the process of integrating into membership and
activities of the ASEAN nations. Cambodia's economy will be
increrasingly linked to its S.E. Asian neighbours. Market forces
outside of Cambodia and competitive factors will determine whether
Cambodian businesses succeed or fail.
In each of the next ten years, an
estimated 200,000 young men and
women will enter the job market and seek employment. Only a
fraction of this number of jobs is presently created each year.
Upgrading and expanding Cambodia's small and medium enterprises,
development of the private sector's institutional capacity and
transformation of the Government's role in promoting economic
development will be critical to meet these challenges.
Cambodian enterprises are currently ill
equipped to meet these market
challenges. Inadequate infrastructure, inexperienced enterprise
managers and staff, outdated technologies and obscelete equipment,
lack of investment and lack of working capital all severely hamper
efforts to compete and expand business operations.
It will be necessary to rapidly transform
the ways rural Cambodian
enterprises operate to prevent stagnation of economic growth in
rural and regional economies and to balance the distribution of
economic benefits between rural regions, the capital city and

Over the years, PPML has developed its
network into indoor advertising bringing
new concepts and vision to indoor spaces like Phnom Penh International Airport.
We prefer to call out-of-home advertising to include both pure outdoor and
semi outdoor formats. We began the Airport project in 2000. Some of you might
have seen the advertisements when you travel from and to Phnom Penh. However, the Airport
started its renovation in 2001, when we had to remove our products such as light
boxes and Tri-visions in 2003. Our products might
not be in the airport anymore but we simply trying to develop new formats
of advertising and new places and faces to advertise as well.
